coffee shop classic

I spent this weekend in Seattle, hence I couldn't update as much blogging done as I wanted to despite having pictures already pre-taken. Anyways, I will upload a Seattle Photo Diary, as well as a double outfit entry pretty soon, but for now a simple outfit entry I took two days before my trip will just have to do.

I began my day surprisingly early to meet up with an old elementary school friend (@mumblematter) for some coffee/brunch and catch up! After 5+ years of not seeing her, it was great to see what she was up to, and what better place to catch up than walking around Main Street!

We ate at Forty Ninth Parallel, where I had a delicious donut and croissant, as well as a rather bitter but pretty looking coffee! After, we walked around aimlessly, going into record stores, clothing shops, and just any interesting store we could find. In fact, we ended up walking over 20 blocks resulting in me having a cramped muscle later on during the day.

Yay for cherry blossoms!! They're one of my favourite things about spring since they add beauty to just about any sort of area, really. Note: be prepared for tons of blog posts with cherry blossom backgrounds, I can almost guarantee it. PS, I finally checked out Le Marché St. George!! While I didn't get a chance to sit down and relax, I grabbed a London Fog to go (and it was mind-blowingly delicious).

Sadly, all good catch-ups must come to an end, and after we said our good-byes, I headed off to watch a movie with another one of my close friends and one of my main photographers. Before I go off into the pictures, I'd just like to say we watched Kingsman: Secret Service (it was the second viewing for me) and it's fantastic! In Mark Strong's words: "This [movie] will be to Bond what Kick-Ass is to superhero movies." It's cheeky, super fun, and the lead actor is extremely attractive. What more could I ask for.

I usually wouldn't snap pictures of this outfit since it's what I consider a rather simple, and every-day outfit for me, but in fact that's the exact reason why I decided to blog it in the first place: because I hardly ever blog outfits I wear quite regularly. So here it is! Ta-da?

I am completely obsessed with this cardigan! It's so cozy and I love how while it's long, it doesn't drown me, and it goes with pretty much everything. That's why I've been pretty much wearing it daily (Spoiler alert: it makes an appearance in my Seattle photos as well). I decided to look a little more put-together by pairing it with a patterned, watercolour button-down instead of just a t-shirt and scarf. Of course, a look isn't complete without a classic pair of dark-wash denim jeans, a good ankle boot, and a cute handbag.

Fun fact: the reason I rarely smile or tend to look away in photos is because I think I've forgotten how to smile. Actually. What am I going to do for my grad photos next year?

Just another close-up photo of me mixing prints, along with the only watch I own.

What? Maika with a pastel blue Kate Spade purse? It can't be? Don't worry, I've got other bags now so this won't be the only one I take pictures of! At least it's cute.
Note: I'm sorry for all the sarcasm. It's no longer a joke to me, it's just a second language.

I don't think I've blogged these boots yet which is a shame since I've literally worn them to death by now. Nonetheless, I still love them. I've been dying for a cute pair of brown ankle boots with a low heel ever since I've noticed Emma Stone wearing them constantly and I just couldn't help but notice how put-together and polished those boots made her outfits seem. As soon as I spotted these at Topshop, I just had to have them, and they've literally been on my feet everyday since. They're much comfier than my usual black boots and match with just about anything. Score!
