quintessentially curly: tryin' the vest i can

Once a week ain't so bad, right? Right. I decided to finally upload these outfit pictures I took a while back, because a) I need to stop procrastinating, and b) I'm going on vacation! I leave in about 4 days from now, and I'd rather not have these photos just lying around, waiting to be posted. So, here's a really brief outfit post, and stay tuned for quite a lot of travel pics to come in the following weeks!

Fact: tuxedo vests are heaven. They add a masculine, yet refined appeal to any look, and they make a simple combo (like my white tee and black shorts look) seem infinitely more polished. This vest has been my holy grail. I went for a pretty monochrome look with little touches of brown, but decided to add a little something by opting for lace black shorts instead of regular distressed denim ones. Lastly, what's a Maika look without a structured handbag and ankle boots? Nothing, exactly.

While I'm at it, I'll do a brief recap of my day: It all began at a little place called iHop. I took one of my best friends there since she's never been before and we had some superb pancakes (I'll insert a picture below), and left there half-dead from a food coma.

We decided to go to Main Street and visit Front & Company in my search for sunglasses (update: I found a pair! Thank goodness for not only UV protection, but an excuse to not have to smize at cameras).

We walked down along, stopping at numerous cafes in the search to quench our thirst due to the blistering hot day, and we gossiped the day away. Nothing better than a long walk, catching up with good buds.
